Highland Park Open Space Preserve
The Highland Open Space Preserves encompass 11 distinct natural areas, covering a combined total of 10.5 acres, integrated into the Highland residential community. These open space areas serve as vital wildlife habitats, providing a critical refuge for diverse flora and fauna.

Each open space provides a unique perspective on nature’s beauty, featuring seasonal creeks, vibrant wetlands teeming with life, a winding walking path, and grassland uplands that burst with color during the spring.

To help protect our natural Open Space Preserves, it is strongly advised that the public refrain from walking through the open space areas except on the designated paved walking paths. Foot traffic can significantly disturb the delicate soil structure, which is crucial in sustaining native flora and fauna. Additionally, wandering off the walking paths stresses native wildlife, disrupting their natural behaviors and habitats and ultimately threatening the survival of various species.

It is crucial for the well-being of this delicate ecosystem that visitors refrain from crossing the boundary fence. The impact of foot traffic, particularly from motorized vehicles, can severely disturb the soil and threaten sensitive species, potentially leading to devastating and long-lasting consequences for populations of these limited species.
